I was so shocked to see Walmart change its ways. No more cashiers. It's all self service. The employees helping each self-service lane were very nice and helpful, but I feel it's not in the benefit of the customer. It's more about making it more efficient to hire less employees, while Walmart CEO's are swimming in money.
For Christ sake, give the underpaid employees something to sit on! They're standing all day!
No grocery baskets. I only wanted to buy a few snacks, but I guess with the absence of baskets I had no choice but to take a huge wide cart. Again, the CEO's are wanting you to buy more with a larger cart. And at least 3 times during my visit, there was a traffic jam in a few aisles because the aisles were not wide enough for 2 carts to pass by each other. That's an egress hazard.
I couldn't figure out where I was going. By the time I gathered my few snacks, I had to ask en employee where the exit was. There were zero exit signs! Another fire escape egress hazard.
And this last one is a minor issue, but why have a security guard check your receipt? If the front door alarm goes off, then the guard should check your cart. I had to dig through my groceries because the receipt was at the bottom of everything.
So much extra work for the customer just so CEOs can bank in more cash.
