I don’t mind if Spanish is the primary language. I was looking for a mosquito zapper. The first girl gave me a couple choices for Isles, but gave me one area that was electrical with no items like a mosquito zapper. She didn’t walk me over there and help me. So I went to the garden center, and the girl in at the register was speaking to a woman for at least 10 minutes and eventually multiple people were behind me in line.
When she waited on me, she didn’t know any English at all and she partially understood my Spanish. She said to go upfront and I said “well, they told me to come here.” So the people behind me knew English, and in Spanish told her what I wanted and then she said “well, I partially understood her. She said this in Spanish, and then she says “I don’t know where it would be.” So I just said I would buy on Amazon. People need to realize her first excuse was that she couldn’t understand me. I don’t mind Spanish being the primary language and don’t mind if you don’t know English, but don’t decide not to help a customer because you don’t understand them exactly or because you don’t know where an item is. I did tell her that if I worked at Home Depot, I would want them to make more money and I would find someone to help me, it was really bad customer service today. It’s unfortunate because I find the Cuban people in South Florida and Hispanic people in general do an excellent job keeping businesses in great shape. They seem to have pride and their work. So I don’t really appreciate being treated like this today.
