My dad and I travelled to Pittsburgh for our first Steelers game! I found this hotel (since we are IHG members) for an excellent price, with military discount, and so we booked it.
Before we showed up, we saw a review that had posted a week prior that said someone found bedbugs in the hotel. We called the manager, and they said they had dealt with the issue.
Upon arrival, we checked the beds thoroughly. No bedbugs! However, there was no mattress cover on one of the beds. We called the front desk, and they squared it away right away. The staff that came in was very friendly.
The lady at the front desk Friday evening January 3 was awesome! Super friendly and nice to talk to. She also explained how to get transit passes and how to navigate transit. It was great!
Breakfast at the hotel was good. Well-cooked food, very clean, and the staff was super friendly. Autumn(Sunday and Monday morning) and the other lady working (Saturday morning) were very kind, and kept up with everything without issue. Nothing ever ran out, and they helped accommodate last-minute arrivals. As a Canadian, it's hard to find good coffee in the US, but the coffee and decaf are good!
While at breakfast Monday morning January 6, we heard the guy working the front desk yelling at another employee at the desk and in the room behind it. It was quite unfortunate to witness that level of unprofessionalism. He was polite to us, but it's not right to bully or be that disrespectful to your co-worker either publicly like he did or in private.
Overall, it was an excellent stay. The only real downsides were the single working elevator, the floors that were incredibly slippery when slightly wet with water or snow, the renovations, and the windows lacking a second pane for insulation. The bathroom sink had rust accumulating around the drain, the hot water from the sink had a bad smell to it, and the shower curtain rod wasn't solidly attached to the wall, so the shower curtain didn't stay completely closed easily. Hopefully they address these issues while renovating.

Rooms
The rooms are alright. Pillows are standard Holiday Inn pillows (firm and soft), blankets are comfy, and the beds are medium firmness. The windows could use an update so they don't allow a draft in, and reduce the accumulation of condensation.
Nearby activities
Other than the inclines, sports bars, and such, there isn't much to do in the area.
Safety
I felt safe in the area, and didn't see any causes anywhere for alarm.
Walkability
There are a few places nearby, and the walking paths are quite nice.
Food & drinks
The breakfast is excellent! Well-cooked, tasty, and plentiful. The coffee is good too!
