I’m requesting access to this Walmart’s management. I have just had the worst customer service I’ve ever experienced and I’m heartbroken and extremely upset at the outcome of my experience.
The cashier working Register 3 at 12pm, September 5th, just delivered such a disgusting and rude experience, I left the establishment in tears. I’ve never cried in public and I’m struck at how this one employee managed to make my experience so terrible I never want to shop at any Walmart chain again. What a disappointment!!
I had come to purchase a DVD copy of The Shining, with a twenty dollar bill. Apparently the self service machines did not accept cash, which was disappointing, but I went to stand in a very long line at register 3 (there were two open).
It took awhile, this cashier wasn’t moving with haste and looked quite disgruntled and unhappy serving customers. When I went to purchase my DVD, she rudely demanded my ID. It was quite rude, as I am private of my age but can assure I’m well over 18. I get judged for my clothes that may have made me look childish. I explained how I didn’t have my license yet as I’ve moved from Michigan and am transferring it to a North Carolina license. The employee didn’t allow any compromise, and again rudely demanded and then threatened me, saying I couldn’t purchase it unless I showed her a copy of document that showed my age. I didn’t realize I had to carry my birth certificate around to purchase a simple DVD movie. She then told me her job was “too important” to her to try and find a way for me to buy this DVD. I was shocked that money was more important to her than a customer’s needs.
The kind woman behind me who knew my age and knew I was legally allowed to buy this movie offered to buy it, as she was clearly old and in all her rights allowed to buy this DVD in legality. The cashier DENIED the purchase to her as well! Which was quite shocking she suddenly was making up Walmart franchise regulations on a whim. Perplexed and confused the employee began asking where I lived- at this point I was extremely uncomfortable and upset in my rights as a customer. She snatched my DVD and again refused my service.
I slowly walked away, shocked at the display of Walmart’s customer service they clearly disregard. I feeling dis-valued as a customer. I found myself crying as I exited the building after an hour of trying to buy this movie. The employee at the exit was a male around 12:40 PM, he glanced in my direction (I was openly crying) and made an off hand comment calling me “weird”.
At this point I’m crying hard, shocked and dismayed at the rude and disgusting treatment I received.
I request the management reaches out to me to further discuss this experience, I’ve never received such verbal assault and public humiliation in my life and I don’t understand why this happened.
