1. I don’t like to write bad reviews, but sometimes it’s inevitable. 2. Wayne (nighttime manager) has made this review a must-do for me. 3. If Wayne had just put a smidgen more effort in, I would have been giving 5-star review, mentioning Wayne specifically.January 3, 2023 about 3 pm, I needed to get my visit to this location done, for my labs. Being an elderly, chronically sick person, (depending on others for transportation), I thought it would be a great idea to call LabCorp inside Walgreens, to make certain they had my order and make sure they were open; because of bad thunderstorms. Lab phone number that goes directly into this tiny office inside Walgreens stated ‘we are closed’. I didn’t believe this to be true, Called Walgreens number and asked the employee that answered the phone, pretty simple question, is the lab open? Answer: I don’t know “this is Walgreens”. That’s when I started to feel unimportant and basically neglected. So, I asked to speak to the manager. I was informed, I could speak to Wayne the nighttime manage. Sure, no problem, waited on hold for over 15 minutes. Customer Serv Pet peeve: if you know it’s going to take longer than a minute or two, get name, number and tell customer will call you back, so customer doesn’t have to waste time while you are looking for or trying to convince manager to come to the phone. Wayne finally picked up my call and asked me to explain over again, what I had already explained to the first person I talked to. Wayne said LabCorp is no part of Walgreens in any way and that I would need to contact LabCorp. I politely and factually recounted again that their phone is saying they are closed. He asked me to hold on, again. I held the line again for another 10 minutes. Wayne (Walgreens mgr) came back on the line and said they are open, but if I needed to speak with them, I would need to call the 800 corporate number. I called that number. LabCorp corp said they are getting the same msg, about them being closed and had no other suggestion than calling Walgreens because they rent space in their building. At this point, I know they are open. I am still trying to talk to Gadsden LabCorp because I need to make certain this trip is not a waste of time, if they don’t have the order. Of course Wayne mgr is still telling me, “it’s not my job and WG’s has nothing to do with LC.” I stated that I certainly understand these facts, but I just needed a tiny bit more help from Wayne. He was the only person I had access to at this point. He said he would go and ask them if they are open and if they have my order. Wayne returned to the phone (again another 7 minutes). Wayne states, LabCorp cannot talk to him about anything to do with me and that LabCorp is not allowed to ‘speak’ on the Walgreens phone. I am only being adamant because I have to have another person’s time and car to bring me. Wayne states it’s not his job and there’s nothing he can do about it. I told him, that I would be there shortly and would discuss other options he had (for the future). I hate that I had to go through this, but what really gets me is I could have been my father (who has cognitive disabilities and more pain than me). I want it to be easier for the next person. I come in the Walgreens door and a young male was at the register with no customers in sight, so I asked are you Wayne? He replied no, but I can call him up here for you. I said no that I could just speak with him, before I leave. I continued through the store, to the lab. I checked in on quiosk and my name came up on the electronic screen and disappears immediately. I figure not much more can go wrong, plus you can’t see or tell if anyone is in the lab or knows you’re there because there is a wall with no window and no communication between patient and lab staff. I had a few brief words with Wayne upon my leaving. “If this was your loved one, you WOULD HAVE got an answer about the order being there or not” Lab stated their phone was NOT broken, but Wayne should call number in front of them. Tiny extra effort.
