I was excited to try this soul food spot after a friend recommended it, but unfortunately, it didn’t live up to the hype. As someone from Philly, I know good soul food, and this wasn’t it.
First off, the pork chop lacked seasoning—it had to be drowned in hot sauce just to have any real flavor. The rice was completely bland, and the mac and cheese? More like just cheese and noodles with no real depth to it. On top of that, the portion sizes were small, which made the lack of quality even more frustrating.
To add to the experience, there was no dine-in option, so we had to eat in the car. I don’t mind takeout, but when the food isn’t good, it makes it even worse. This was not the comforting, well-seasoned soul food I was expecting. Definitely wouldn’t return.
