I had this place on my “want to go” list for a while so I decided to go there to celebrate with a friend. Hannah provided great, hospitable service. The portions could be considered petite, but full of flavor. We ordered so many items from the menu, we were going to be full either way.
To start, we had the southern Caesar, biscuit and rock shrimp and the royal bread basket. If you’re going spirit free, I would go for the reckless empress🍸. I wasn’t a big fan of the tropical depression, but it was still very flavorful. For the mains we had the seafood gumbo (wasn’t a huge fan, but still flavorful), catfish and waffles (my friend liked the catfish, but wish they put the other sauce on the side), and crab cakes . For the sides we tried the cast iron mac and cheese, the candied sweet potato (a little watery), and the hoppin John (perfect and I loved the okra on top). I would go back for the crab cakes, the mac and cheese, and the hoppin john. On my next trip(s), I’ll plan to try brunch and some new dishes on the dinner menu 😋
At the end of the dinner, Hannah surprised us with a little celebratory half tart with the candles 🕯️. O m g 😁 it was so sweet! Thanks for the great service, Hannah!!!
