I came in on Monday to return clothing that I had purchased but ended up not wearing to my event. The items were in perfect, unworn condition, and I brought the tags with me, though they were no longer attached. I was informed by the cashier that returns could not be processed without the tags being physically attached, so I politely asked if I could speak with a manager, given the total was over $130.
Unfortunately, my experience with the manager was extremely disappointing. Rather than approaching the situation with professionalism or understanding, she was condescending and dismissive. She implied on multiple occasions that I was being dishonest, and insisted that we read the return policy out loud together, word for word—an approach that felt unnecessarily humiliating and disrespectful.
At no point was I rude, loud, or confrontational. I simply asked for clarity and hoped for some reasonable flexibility. I’ve never experienced such unprofessional conduct from someone in a management position. The way I was treated was not only unacceptable but entirely uncalled for.
Do better.
