As I shopped in the store in the bath and beauty section there was an employees stocking the shelves completely ignoring customers. Not as much as a “hi” or an “excuse me”. That didn’t bother me considering that I didn’t need any help. But then I walked to the checkout. There was a manager and two associates with their backs turned and they were chatting. The manager saw me standing ready to check out but she turned and continued with the two associates. A young man came to the front to check me out. One of the associates asked if he belonged there. Then the manager said, “No, you’re in the back. Finish with your customer and then you can go back there.” This young man was the only associate in the store who greeted, acknowledged, and helped me by checking me out. By the manager’s tone and the way that she addressed him in front of me, she was extremely rude. He is the kind of employee that belongs in the front, coming from a customer with 22 years of management experience. The manager could learn a thing or two from the young man who helped me today.
