I hope this can help someone from having the same experience. My son needed a tongue and lip revision at two months. Dr. Hatch came highly recommended by my lactation consultant so I had high hopes for our experience. Everything went as well as it could have given the operation taking place and we went on our way with clear instructions and understanding. Upon returning to our follow up a week later, however, Dr. Hatch did something in my opinion was very unprofessional. As a first time mom, I in no way shape or form wanted to see my son in pain. I had to be down the hall plugging my ears for the initial operation for reference. Without any regards for my wishes or feelings, Dr. Hatch re-tore (for lack of a better term) my son’s tongue tie in front of me. The look of my sons face in what I can imagine to be pain as no medicine was given and seeing his incision ripped open still haunts me 6 months later. I was extremely shocked and traumatized that I wasn’t given the opportunity to 1) confirm that I wanted that done and 2) that I wasn’t given the option to look away or leave the room if I wasn’t comfortable witnessing that. Please be an advocate for your children and yourself because not every doctor will take your feelings into consideration.
