Your primary doctor should be someone you trust and someone that you can go to for help, she was not that for me. I have had mixed feelings about her as a doctor for years, but she is generally nice and I have always loved her nurse Betsy - so since I didn't didn’t bother with finding a new primary. This past year I went to her with relentless upper right shoulder pain and because of ongoing GI issues I requested some gallbladder testing be done. I had already been to various PT's, chiropractors and tried numerous muscle relaxers, nothing was helping. I was in much pain every day. My latest physical therapist at the time who does CST, lymph drainage and viceral manipulation right off the bat said you need to get your gallbladder checked, it was not happy. That coupled with my own intuition that my gallbladder needed to get looked at felt like enough reason to go to her, Dr. Kasper, for help.
I am not sure why, but she would not take me seriously & did not run any gallbladder tests. I’m not sure why she wouldn't atleast rule out my gallbladder as the source of my pain even if she didn't believe my instincts or that of my PT. I was baffled by it. I was very thorough of explaining what was going on, what I had already tried and why I thought I needed tests done.
Fast forward, new primary doctor at a new hospital. (So many bad experiences at Agnesian!) He listens to me and takes what I think and what I want looked at seriously. Orders the gallbladder hida scan. I have the test asap. Instantly get results my gallbladder is not functioning and needs to come out.
Even prior to my gallbladder issues, I had chronic pelvic pain & bleeding. She dismissed that and didn’t want to order any tests. I brought it up at every annual exam and she continued to dismiss it. I finally switched to a new OBGYN and she immediately ordered ultrasound, found some underlying issues and also did explorative surgery. I have endometriosis and had large cysts and fibroids. The cause of my pain and excess bleeding were legitimate health conditions that could have been monitored and managed years prior if Kasper had taken my concerns seriously.
I recommend you find someone that listens and takes you seriously. In hindsight if you don't leave your doctor's office, even for just a wellness check, thinking wow what a great doctor... get a new one! There are amazing doctors out there. Night and day difference for me by switching hospitals, let alone doctors.
