I am almost 70 years old. I had cataract as part of my age. However, I was so scared when surgery was suggested. When I saw Dr. Yang for consultation, I was pretty much hesitant and confused bout choices over different kinds of lenses offered. Dr. Yang was very patient with all my questions. Eventually, I chose the Light Adjustable Lens. To my surprise, on the very next day after cataract surgery, my operated eye could see 20/20. I had no complication whatsoever post-op, so I decided to do surgery on the left eye 4 weeks later, also with another Light Adjustable Lens, despite of my plan to drag it on for a year or two in the beginning. Should I enjoy what I can, when I still can? Truth is, it took longer for my left eye to see as sharp as my right one, maybe due to some damage from dryness. I never really know if I would get the same result had I chosen different kind of lenses. Nevertheless, at least I had the time to find out the field of vision I am really comfortable with even after surgery. When I watch TV now, it is so sharp that I consider adjusting the TV sharpness down, comparing to before surgeries, I had to sit very close to the screen. On my last visit with Dr. Yang, the exam was better than perfect. I could say I am one of the lucky patients. Each patient is unique and no lens works for all, but I still want to share my experience to encourage others to discuss options with your doctors to find the best solutions for yourself.
