Since my cervical spine disc replacement surgery earlier this year, I have been bursting to sing the praises of Dr. Scott Sanderson. He is not only an exceptionally skilled surgeon, he is a kind, empathetic and caring human being. He is personable, articulate, easy to converse with, a great listener and has an extremely high level of EQ.
Since I was referred to him, he never once pressured me to opt for surgery. Instead, he took the time to help me explore the more conservative approaches to alleviating my condition. After many months of agonizing over all the worst case scenarios, I arrived at the decision that surgery was my best option to get my active life back. Leading up to the surgery, I was extremely anxious and Dr. Sanderson thoughtfully and patiently answered all my questions. Dr. Sanderson also has a way of laying things out that help bring clarity to a situation. He might often ask me a question that would help me figure out what it was I was actually trying to ask him. On the day of surgery, he knew exactly how to set the tone to calm my nerves and I felt confident to be under his care.
Within days of my surgery, my left arm and hand were much stronger and the numbness, tingling and aches had virtually disappeared. I was back on my piano on day 5 and the strength in my left fingers were noticeably stronger than I had felt in over 20 years (I had always thought the weakness in my left hand was due to a broken wrist surgery in 2001). In addition, my neck and shoulder pain have improved, I get less headaches, and I can now sit at my desk without having to get up every 30 minutes.
I am ever so grateful to have met Dr. Sanderson. Entrusting myself in his care was one of the best decisions of my life. After all, it is not an exaggeration to say he has given me a new lease in life.
