Avoid him at all costs. Dr. Ashworth pushed a surgery I couldn’t have for other underlying medical reasons and, quite frankly, didn’t want. He refused to listen to me when I raised concerns, to a point where he lied and tried to destroy my credibility with other providers at Shannon. He put false info in his notes, saying he offered me treatments that he never even mentioned, while telling me I was out of options and my only hope was a spinal cord stimulator implant (that I would find out later could actually be counter productive).
It has been an incredibly scary situation. Imagine a doctor completely ignoring other symptoms and serious diagnoses to make a profit, serious issues including tremor, vestibular hypofunction/balance disorders, and dystonia. Please get second or even third opinions. If he tells you that you need a spinal cord stimulator, get an opinion from a qualified neurosurgeon, not a guy trying to make a buck from kickbacks from medical device companies.
At best, he’s defrauding insurance companies and his practice is nothing but a surgery mill. At worst, his behavior is reckless and irresponsible, to a point of dangerous, life altering mistakes; where he tries to force implantation of unnecessary and counterproductive medical devices.
Dr. Ashworth was so clouded by greed, that he was willing to implant an unnecessary and potentially dangerous medical device in me to get an easy pay out from my insurance.
Don’t go here. Don’t risk your life here. Don’t go to any doctor that diagnoses you with a neurological condition and suggests surgery, while actively discouraging you from seeing neurology and neurosurgery (the actual experts and surgeons).
