At the first intake appointment, we provided the information the paperwork required. It clearly states that if you have medicaid/medicare or no insurance then you must provide pay stubs. We have private insurance but were told we still had to provide pay stubs. I made it very clear I was not comfortable with that. They said in case the insurance lapses, they will go based on the sliding scale. (If our insurance lapses, it will be due to job loss.) Based on that, we were told if it were to lapse, we would have to pay over $900 for services. It would be cheaper to be self-pay at any other office than to pay this ridiculous amount.
Today, my child had their first appointment with the dr for med management. (We are in the process of looking for another dr.) Took them here since it was already set up and they needed a med refill. I was told if you are more than 5 mins late you wouldn't be able to see the dr. I was 5 mins early. The dr was 45 mins late. Both the dr and front office staff said this never happens but I heard it actually happens quite often. He then tells me there was only 15 mins left of the appointment time. I asked him how long the first appointment usually is and he said 1 hour but since we started 45 mins late, we only had 15 mins. (We did go over that and was in there for 20-25 mins.) I asked if I was being charged for the full hour but only getting 15 mins because he was late? He "corrected" me by saying the insurance was getting charged and not me. He had my child's history wrong so I was correcting him and then said I would need to get a second opinion on the med change he wanted to do. He asked if I wanted to continue with the appt and I said yes because I don't want them to have withdrawals from not taking their mental health meds. He then tried to argue with me about it all as if I am new to this. He also was telling me the new med had 1 side effect but I looked on my phone in front of him and found plenty others. He barely acknowledged that. I highly recommend finding other care providers than this place if you can. I will NOT be returning.
