I have a very important procedure coming up that will help me to have a better quality of life. In order for my insurance to cover the medical necessities needed after the procedure, I need to have an overnight stay and establish a case manager. I called the office about 8 days ago and sent a message last Friday, with no response. I called today and found out that my Dr did send it to the office manager, Ms Schaeffer and she refused the request. Ms. Schaeffee, didn't care enough to call me and tell me why. If the insurance denied the request. I called today and she told the receptionist she wouldn't take my call. Then I insisted and she said to put me through, but didnt pick up the phone. This says a lot about her character, demeanor and lack of care foe me. I have a right to know why this simple, logical request was denied, but obviously Ms Schaeffer doesn't believe so.
A lot medical professionals, not only drs and nurses, but office staff as well, in the United States has diminished in the capacity and willingness to care about their patients. We come to them because we desperately need their help to live a better and more sustainable life, but there are those like Ms. Schaeffer who don't deem my concern and/or condition or me relevant enough to call me back and explain to me why I can't be admitted overnight, should get out of the medical field. There once was a time when the patients came first and the professionals did everything they could do to make sure that the patient was cared for and about. The once was a time when the medical professionals had compassion, empathy and concern. From what I can remember that was about 4 years ago. Now if you get a Dr and/or the staff to care about you and your health, count it as a blessing.
