Read MoreThis was such an unexpected and much needed blessing! So I’ll make this review a detailed one. Overall there was so much genuine kindness of every staff member that made my experience so comfortable and pleasurable.
I was in town after a long road trip for a wedding and in much need of a haircut/would love to have someone else do my hair for the wedding.
Receptionist and booking: I called the afternoon before and Tara was incredible with trying to find me an appointment for any combination of services with any stylist she could fit me in with. And we found one! Emily for a dry cut at 9am. Then I got a phone call from her a bit later… I was nervous she was going to say that we’d need to reschedule, but nope! There must have been a problem with the scheduling software that opened the 9am slot up again. She caught the error when someone else tried to book that appointment time and called me right away to double check that was the time we landed on in the end. I confirmed and she made sure the appointment successfully went through this time and waited to verify the time showed as booked.
Emily and the cut:
Emily was prompt and ready to go right at my appointment time. She asked if I wanted a wash and I was confused but shocked and hopeful she actually did have the time! She evaluated based on the cut I wanted and was spot on with timing, so she had the time for a wash, cut, and style! Exactly what I had hoped for. And, she finished right on time for her next appointment.
She was so kind, friendly, calm (!), patient, collaborative, and easy to talk to. She asked great questions to learn the uniqueness of my hair and match it up with my preferences. She then confidently checked in with me at every step of the cut to see if I’d like any adjustments, which I was freely able to say yes to. She was able to get the feel of the cut just right and worked well with my little hair quirks. Then she finished it off efficiently with a curl and I was all ready to go!
The other staff were great as well, offering me a water bottle when I had problems with the fountain, answering questions about products in the shop, and wishing me well on my day.
So thank y’all at Hair Benders. And to the readers, go ahead and book with Emily! And tip her well! Her being a “Level 1” stylist made no noticeable difference in my experience. I so appreciated what she shared with me, that she waited to get her Cosmetology license until she truly felt confident and comfortable; she cares about her clients and didn’t want to offer a sub-par service just to make it into the field quicker.
