We were here for the holiday prix fixe menu. The ambience was nice! However, the service was pretty bad and non-existent on the waiter’s part. We had waited over a half-hour before our waiter (Michael) took our orders. It was not even busy, but we had to remind him that we didn’t order yet. He did not apologize at all and assumed we ordered already. The rest of the experience was not ideal: my partner got the wrong course and Michael said he would bring the right course sent to us. This would’ve been awesome if the course ever came, but he forgot to bring it to us. Why even tell us that you would try to correct your mistake if you weren’t going to follow through? After that, he didn’t engage with our table for the rest of our experience. We waited an hour before we had to flag a waitstaff down for our drinks. Another waitstaff was like, “what wine did you order again?”What was irking was that Michael was overly chummy to some of the other tables and joking with them that they should “tip him big.”I want to mention the other waitstaff were polite, but Michael was a very disorganized, uncaring, and disengaged staff member. The food was ok, definitely bland, and overpriced. For 145 per head, this was not worth it, especially in a city with amazing restaurants.
12 Reviews on “Orafo in San Francisco”
Orafo at the Four Seasons in San Francisco boasts a beautiful ambiance and tasteful decor, setting the stage for what one might hope to be an exceptional dining experience. Unfortunately, the food did not live up to its premium price point, falling into the category of forgettable and underwhelming.
What truly marred the evening, however, was the service—or lack thereof. Our waiter, Michael, was inattentive to the point of frustration. He got our order wrong, failed to apologize for his mistake, and completely forgot the wine we ordered, forcing us to flag him down multiple times. This level of service is far below the high standards one expects from a restaurant at the Four Seasons.
Overall, while the setting is lovely, the mediocre food and disastrous service make it hard to recommend Orafo, especially given the expectations attached to both the location and the brand. There are better options in San Francisco for fine dining.
