Both my parents are former bakers, my dad apprenticed in bakeries in Washington while my mom learned from the navy vets running the cal poly bakery.
They were both impressed with the quality construction, decoration and balance of good rich chocolate without being overly sweet. The real frosting is spread carefully and consistently, the quality baked crumb had even rise, meaning no need for the thick leveling frosting you find in grocery store quality cakes.
Mom pointed out that the size and decorative quality of the 6" double layer cake was that of the top tier of a wedding cake.
Absolutely will be getting cakes from them again, and my parents plan to visit for a breakfast pastry. The perfect conclusion to my dad's birthday dinner
I forgot to mention: this was an a cake off the shelf, not a special order. (If I were to render ANY criticism it's that the options were limited, but I immediately counter that because they had exactly what I wanted and in ample supply, I hope they rotate that stock so I can try more varieties, I'm particularly interested in the carrot cake) To me having a cake decorated so beautifully available for walk-in customers is extremely impressive and speaks to their dedication
