I’ve been a regular at Bar Louie, especially for their citrus grilled salmon, which I normally love. But after my latest visit, I’m seriously reconsidering ever going back.First, my entrée arrived before my appetizer, so I politely sent it back. Nearly 30 minutes later, the same salmon was brought back out, clearly having sat for way too long. I requested a fresh plate, only to be served an over-salted piece of salmon with cold potatoes. When I asked my server if it could be taken off the check, she informed me that the manager had already declined. However, she offered to have the manager come by to discuss it further. That’s when Rachel showed up—and the experience went downhill fast. With a tone that could cut glass, she explained that I’d technically been served two entrees. She completely disregarded that one had been returned because it was served at the wrong time and the other was completely inedible. Instead, she asked, “What do you need?”I calmly explained I’d like the dish taken off the bill, considering I’d barely touched it. Rachel proceeded to imply that I was trying to get a free meal, saying that “the first one was on us” but she didn’t want to remove the second. I sat there, letting her finish, and then waited without response—until she sarcastically asked if we were “going to have a conversation about this.” I reminded her, politely, that I’d already made my request and was simply waiting for her response. With an exaggerated scoff, she stomped off. Moments later, she returned with an adjusted check and a card for a free appetizer. She also half acknowledged her behavior by addressing how she “left abruptly,” conveniently neglecting mention of her words or tone. I left the card on the table. If I wanted something free, I would’ve eaten the dish, then asked them to remove the entrée from my check; the returned plate was full.Honestly, I’m stunned by how unprofessional and rude Rachel was. This isn’t the Bar Louie I’m used to, and it was more than just a disappointing meal—it was a disappointing experience.
