Oh El Pollo Pio Pio. Everything on the menu is wonderful. The food is prepared by hand by who I assume are the mother and father of the most friendly and polite children that often man the counter. I love this place, not only is the food delicious - but the care taken with preparation of the food and the cleanliness of the restaruant and the way the family interacts with each other makes the whole experience special. It's like coming to visit your mother or grandmother and they've made your favorite food. It is really that good.
But, my favorite part of coming here is the soup. My mother passed away some time ago. I miss her dearly. Her and I would always go find awessome soup places or make homemade soup together. That was "our" thing to do. She'd love the soup here. Chicken, beef, pozole or menudo - it's so very delicious. And all the soups come with fresh garnishes of onion, cilantro, lemon and jalapenos. As if that was not enough - every soup comes with the best hand made corn tortillas you've every had.
The love this mother has for her children. The love this family has for each other and the hard work they put into this business comes through in the soup (though it's present in the chicken too). It always helps fill the hole I have in my heart, just a little bit, and remember the good times I had with my mother each time I order a bowl. I'm so very thankful for this place and the food they so lovingly serve.
