I am writing to complain about a purchase made at Thomasville Furniture, now known as Robinson’s home furnishing in Fresno California. I was looking for a sofa and had my on a Lexington Sofa that was in the store. I watched the price for a few months, visiting the store often. In July 2020, I visited the store and was advised by Hanan, sales person that the owner was willing to lower the price of the sofa as he needed to make room for other items. She stated that he would be willing to give me a good price. The sofa was sold to me at $3600.00. I applied for a credit account and charged the $3600.00. I was told that the warranty would still apply. The sofa was large and an off white and seemed to be in good condition. There were no visible signs of soil. I took pictures of the sofa. The owner offered to store the sofa in the warehouse, (which I thought was on site but I later learned it was located in Visalia. I paid for it in full. Once I was ready to have it delivered, there was no problem getting it to my home. However, the have young kids, making the deliveries. They delivered the sofa dirty. Their hands left dirt on may area of the couch and there was dirt, I am assuming from the warehouse. The sofa seemed to have been store uncovered. I called the store and complained. The owner had the sofa picked up the sofa the next week to have it cleaned. I asked at this time if after it was cleaned, should I consider getting it treated to help repel dirt. He said no. That scotch guarding would void my warranty. I have the sofa in my living room. We have a separate family room so that we are not sitting on the sofa. It was bought completely for show. I spent over $5000. Purchasing the sofa and a chair.
When I decorated my home for the holidays. I put up a 12-foot Christmas tree. I had to rearrange my living room in order to accommodate for the tree. I began moving the furniture. I move the sofa. It seemed quite heavy. Unbeknownst to me all the legs/feet beneath the couch contained nails, except one. There were at least 8 feet attached to the sofa and none of the had the protective plastic furniture protector attached to the feet. I have multiple scratches on my wood floor for moving my sofa. I was livid. I called the store and complained to a salesperson. I was advised that the owner was out of town and would call me when they returned. Hunan, the rude salesperson, stated that my issue had nothing to do with warranty. She showed no concern that my floor had been damaged. I waited weeks for a response from the owner and got nothing. No phone call, no resolution no apology, no offer to fix the sofa. This couch remained in the same place that they delivered it to until I decided to decorate for Christmas.
Sadly, when spending your thousands of dollars, you get excellent service. Once I wanted an assessory item for the table. I went to the store 4 times and spoke with Hanan. After a week and a half, she still did not deem it important enough to get the price of the item. I called and came by numerous times. The final time I called her, she said to me “Rusty doesn’t keep prices of items in his back pocket.” This was almost two weeks later. That told me that Hanan doesn’t want to be bothered if you are not spending thousands of dollars, to generate a decent commission. She was nasty and rude. I decided I did not have to put up with her rude behavior any longer and made my future purchases from another sales person.
The incident with the sofa scratching my floor was over a month ago and no one have ever called me back. The public should be made aware of the poor business practices of this store. I haven’t even finished paying for the furniture. I also had no idea that I needed to check the bottom of the sofa for feet. I was told the sofa was under warranty.
