Read MorePulled in on a Friday evening after work and met up with friends at Mia Bea Wines in Redwood Valley—about 15 minutes north of Ukiah and tucked into Mendocino County wine country. This stop wasn’t just a tasting—it was our overnight stay, thanks to Harvest Hosts. Chris, the owner, came out to greet us and brought the tasting straight to the RV, which was a smart move considering it was blazing hot outside. Inside the rig, we had AC and a round of chilled glasses ready to go.
The wines were a hit across the board, but their 2024 Dry Rose Pinot Noir really stood out to me. I picked up a bottle, and so did the others. The tasting was complimentary for all three of us, and what really made it memorable was hearing Chris share stories about the vineyard and his family. One photo in the welcome binder shows his grandfather’s 1919 arrest record for bootlegging—complete with mugshots. That piece of Mendocino history gave the whole place some unexpected depth.
The RV site was shaded under a big oak, fairly easy to level, and peaceful once the sun dipped. No hookups or water here, so it’s best if you’re self-sufficient. As in my photos, it’s surrounded by vineyard rows and backed by classic NorCal hills—exactly the kind of spot that makes RV travel feel like a privilege. Between the wine, the welcome, and the stories, this one left a good impression. I’d definitely return. Great fit for Harvest Host members who appreciate small producers and a laid-back farm vibe.
