Where do I start with this situation and absolutely terrible, disrespectful experience working with this business and the people they employ?...
Let's go way back in time first, my family (Wilmoth's) have owned a plot at the Enon Cemetery since the 1970's when my family bought 10 plots.
My mother passed away on 8/31/2024 and since Enon Cemetery is "Managed" by First Baptist Church of Woodstock, we HAD to use them for our service to get the grave dug and other things for her burial.
Which means we had to pay almost $1300 to a "Church" (Really a Business, the place looks BETTER than MOST College Basketball Auditoriums, tell me when I'm lying) to have my mother's funeral on 9/7/2024.
After having a rough time losing my mom, I avoided coming back to Enon to visit. On 12/7/2024 (yes, 3 months exactly didn't plan that) I visited my mother's grave for the first time to drop off some Christmas items for her grave.
As I walked up to her grave, I see that it has not been touched in 90 days.
You could tell they put the dirt over the grave but left giant holes and gaps, I could almost reach down and touch the vault it seemed, but the grass was never put back over it, they left the old flowers on top, metal stands, etc. and just flat out never returned it seemed.... over a 3 freaking month time period. I guess they are so busy getting handed tax free money that it somehow completely slipped their mind to return and finish what we paid for. I can somewhat understand, normally they just pass around a plate and get handed thousands of tax free dollars so I could see how real work would be harder to remember and slip their mind.
So another family members reaches out to FBCW to get this handled. We are told it would be taken care of.
So I return a few days later (all dates are on my photos) and see it was half ass taken care of.
So the giant holes in the side of the grave were filled in and the grass was at least moved back on top ... But ALL of the old flowers, metal stands, etc. were just moved off my mothers grave and disrespectfully tossed on to the top of my grandparents grave. While our plot wall with NO graves outside of it is about 2 feet to the left, these great "Christian Workers" at FBCW decided to throw everything 2ft to the right on top of my grandparents grave and then just leave it there... No way you can "Forget" a pile of trash that big.
I then took the time to put these items outside our plot wall and off my grandparents grave so hopefully someone will find the time to come throw them away. Since it's been 90+ days already, I doubt it but try to have hope.
In the end, we paid a business almost $1300 for a half ass, completely disrespectful job. I wish we could have used someone else but since they "manage" the cemetery , we HAD to use them. Ive reach out to the city of Woodstock to see details on how this works, because whatever tax credit or payment the City of Woodstock is likely paying to FBCW is a complete waste of money and ANY other "Church" should get tasked with this as this church just seems way to busy to have the time... Which again I can somewhat understand with auditorium thats bigger and nicer than most college basketball gyms.
