Lesson learned: never ever stay at this place, or any other place that does not have an employee on or near property to address any issues that may arise. When we checked in on 8/22 (booked until 8/25), our cottage was a continuous 62°, because of a non functioning, or locked thermostat, so we literally froze all night long. We reached out to the only human offered by this place, via email, a multitude of times, (approximately 19 times) about the locked/non functional thermostat, all they kept offering was to tell us to adjust the temperature with the up or down arrows and wouldn't even address the fact that the thermostat was locked or non-functional. The additional blanket provided, was filthy and stained, like it hadn't been cleaned in a long long time. In order to try to keep warm, we had no choice but to use it. My husband is a disabled veteran, who cannot drive after dark because of a vision impairment. We packed up and left early the morning of 8/23 and headed back home.. An absolutely miserable and horrendous experience. Our extended weekend vacation, which we were looking very much forward to enjoying, has been completely ruined. There is another review about a locked or non-functioning thermostat, set at 52 degrees in another cottage at this place, as recent as July, and those guests left the next morning as well. Sunnyside Cottages has established a pattern of negligent and uncaring attitude, as to the health, comfort and safety of their guests.
ADDED IN RESPONSE TO THE OWNER: Thank you for finally acknowledging this review, after how long? I can assure you that we will never ever give your cottages a chance ever again. We do appreciate the full refund, and thank you for that. However, your total and complete negligence, lack of care, concern and/or the desire to even attempt to ty to help make our stay even a little more comfortable, completely did us in as we can never trust your business ever again. Businesses and establishments get only one chance when it comes to utilizing their services. Additionally, we will never recommend your establishment to the many 55+ communities across Florida, as to recommendations of hotels and motels for people to stay at when traveling. Bottom line is that all faith was lost as to the way you operate the business. If we ever visit Dunedin again, we will choose an alternative place to stay. It is what it is and what it has become.
